Officially have GD

So here I am at the end of my 37th week, and they are just now telling me I have GD...  Lovely.  Even my MW said it's kind of late in the game... DUH!!!!!  I'm so frustrated with them mostly because now I can't deliver in the alternative birthing center, I have to be in a regular L&D room... UGH

  • I'm so sorry.  That really sucks.

I was also facing getting risked out of my birth center after my GD diagnosis.  But I was able to convince them to keep me by showing them how well I'm able to control it with diet.  I keep a diary of everything I eat and all my blood draws.  Combined with an ultrasound that showed that baby wasn't "too big" the food diaries convinced the medical director to let me stay at the birth center.  Maybe you could try a similar lobbying technique.

If you have any questions about the GD diet or anything, just ping me.  Good luck!

  • Thanks, I think if I show them that it's not effecting the baby I should be allowed in there.  I think I'm just more frustrated they waited this long to do anything about it!

  • That sucks. Having them diagnose you so late doesn't make sense. :(

No kidding!  That's why I'm so upset about it!  Good thing is, is that the baby always measures on track, and at the last ultrasound was a perfect weight, so I'm not TOO concerned about it.

It seems like if they are only diagnosing at this point that it wasn't that big of a deal to begin with. Ugh. I am frustrated for you!
